I drive my car very rarely, and never far away (so I can stick to roads i'm familiar with), but in this case, I took it out and took the freeway after numerous people said it was a "butter smooth" road. Well, they were wrong. My car suffered HUGE and I mean HUGE impacts by the undercarriage hitting small raised portions of the highway. The impact sounds like someone taking a sledgehammer to an anvil. Shattered pieces of asphalt can then be heard tumbling underneath my car. After encountering 10 or so large impacts, I had decided to slow down to 45MPH on the highway just to lessen the force. Eventually my SES light went on, I thought for sure something must have punctured/cracked/dented/snapped.
Once I got home, I immediately jacked up the car, found nothing leaking or cracked. Aside from a destroyed undertray, and bent up metal everywhere, all seemed intact-ish. I decided to disconnect the negative battery term, and reconnect it, and see if that would clear the light. Started the car, and the SES is gone. Hasn't returned for 2 days. Now I'm not sure what the hell the issue was. A false alarm from the impacts, or something else. But the light is gone, I'm just wondering if i'm in the clear, or if there could be a real issue. Any ideas what might have caused the SES?

By the way for any bay area residents, the highway is 280N+S, running between San Bruno, and San Jose. I decided against 101 because of the construction, and already painful experiences there, and everyone said 280 was the better smoother option. It was so bad, I tried taking El Camino all the way back up to SF from Sunnyvale in an attempt to avoid the carnage, even if my trip was another 1-2 hours longer. But El Camino Real around cupertino & palo alto is so horrible, I ended up merging back onto 280N just to end the suffering quicker.
Thank goodness 280N/S and El Camino Real in my area (north of San Bruno) is smooth.

My windshield is covered in like 5000 little chips from over the years and its not too noticable until driving into the sun. Thats when it becomes a big annoyance and acts like its sprinkled with water but you cant use the wipers to clear it off! Is there anything out there that can help fill in the tiny surface marks to hide them? I was thinking some form of gel or something might exist that would rub on, fill the chips, and then cure and act like a glass repair?
I dont want to throw out like $300+ for a new windshield since its only a real pain when driving into the sun, but I do need some improvement.

they have a gel that goes on but it has to cure with a vacuum machine or something and can't be applied to an entire windsheild.
Unless something new has come out.
I'd also get a new windsheild, hit up insurance for a quote also

Type of rim? Well I'd say the type would be mesh face with polish/chrome lip. If you're asking for the brand and name, then I believe their DPE GT7's.
For the trunk, two vendors on the site sell them.
